Welcome to the 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition . . . online!

The 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition represents approximately 3500 homes and businesses in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri.  We represent a very diverse collection of individuals and businesses - including two major universities - and enable everyone within the Coalition to work together to solve common problems and explore common goals.

The Coalition is perhaps unique in that it set out deliberately, from its founding in 1971, to bridge all levels of diversity - economic, religious, political, racial - and provide a common forum through which everyone within the Coalition could speak.

The 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition represents a diverse neighborhood; therefore, opinions expressed on this website do not necessarily represent the Coalition's Communications Committee, its Board of Directors, its Officers, or the neighborhood as a whole.

The 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition Needs Your Support!

If you recently received the Coalition fundraising letter and haven't yet sent it back in, there's still time to do so.  The Coalition relies on its many members to help with the substantial costs involved in running such a widespread organization - the monthly newsletter you receive costs $500 a month to produce, and that even with free printing services provided by the city.  Remember that anything you give is entirely tax-deductible, and 100% of what you donate comes back to you in the form of newsletters, monthly general meetings and other programs that the Coalition has sponsored in the past.  The Coalition is run entirely by unpaid volunteers - nobody gets a salary.  If you didn't receive the fundraising letter or you have misplaced it, you can download it here in pdf format.  It lists the many activities and programs sponsored by the Coalition last year.  Please read through and consider donating today - anything you can donate is appreciated, and we thank you in advance for your support!

Coalition, CAN and COMBAT are Moving!

Effective April 1st, 2010, the 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition, along with its sister organizations the CAN (Community Action Network) Center and COMBAT (Community-Backed Anti-Drug Tax) organization will inhabit new headquarters located within the 49/63 community.  You can find us at 5418 Lydia Avenue, so we invite you to stop in and say hello!  Also sharing office space will be the Codes officer for our community.

Rockhurst University generously provided our organizations with this bungalow to use as office/meeting space, and we look forward to becoming a visible, vital presence in the community.
